# Bolt pattern guide

## What is a wheel bolt pattern?

A bolt pattern (PCD — pitch circle diameter) describes the number of wheel bolts and the diameter of the circle they form. For example, 5x112 means 5 bolts on a 112 mm circle. The bolt pattern must match exactly before mounting any wheel.

## Measure a bolt circle from adjacent studs

Use the centre-to-centre distance between two neighbouring, equally spaced studs to estimate PCD.

### How to measure

- Measure from the centre of one stud to the centre of the next stud.
- Keep the ruler or caliper straight across the two centres.
- Repeat the measurement and compare the result with the wheel and vehicle documentation.

A matching PCD does not verify centre bore, offset, fasteners, brake clearance or vehicle approval.

Seasonal check

## Planning a long summer drive?

Use the budget and running-cost tools before a trip, especially if the current tires are worn or the replacement size changes diameter.
